Grooming small cross breeds: what their coat needs

  • Cross breeds can have short, wiry, long or curly coats, or a mix.
  • Long and curly coats keep growing and need regular trims, while short coats mostly need a wash, brush and nails.
  • Our cuts for cross breeds range from a summer or winter cut to a body trim, lion cut, rat cut or three-quarter cut, depending on the coat.

How often?

Long or curly coats usually need a groom every 4 to 8 weeks. Short coats can go longer between visits.

Between grooms

  • Brush to match the coat: often for long coats, weekly for short ones.
  • Check ears and paws for grass seeds and burrs.
  • Book nails if they click on the floor.
